David attended the College of Law of the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and graduated in 1976. He returned to Regina and began his practice as a lawyer with the firm.

David has extensive experience in civil litigation, having conducted a large number of Queen's Bench trials of varying types and complexity. He has conducted civil jury trials. He has experience at the appellate levels, appearing many times before the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal and, on one occasion, before the Supreme Court of Canada. His clients include a variety of the major insurance companies carrying on business in Saskatchewan.

David has lectured at Saskatchewan Legal Education Association conferences and various insurance conferences on topics related to insurance law.

David has been an active member of the Regina Family Y.M.C.A. since 1976. He was a member of the Board of Directors from 1989 to 1999, and the Chairman of the Camp Committee. He has assisted in the organization of the annual Y.M.C.A. Buffalothon Road Race in Regina yearly since 1979. David is an avid proponent of the pursuit of health through physical fitness.

David and his wife, Doris, have four children and a grandson.
