Gerrand Rath Johnson lost an accomplished and well-respected lawyer on December 9, 2006.

Elton R. Gritzfeld, Q.C. was born on a farm in the Duval District in 1930. He is a graduate of Luther College, Regina. He received a B.A. in 1951 and an LL.B. in 1953 from the University of Saskatchewan. He was called to the bar of Saskatchewan in 1954. Mr. Gritzfeld received his Queen's Counsel designation in 1968.

Mr. Gritzfeld served as a Bencher of the Law Society of Saskatchewan from 1979 - 1985, and was President of the Society in 1983. In 1988, he was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Gritzfeld practiced civil and criminal litigation extensively in the trial and appellate courts of Saskatchewan and in the Supreme Court of Canada.

The lawyers and staff at Gerrand Rath Johnson will miss Mr. Gritzfeld's dedication to his work and clients, his knowledge of the law, his wit and his kindness.
